China High-Speed Rail Network Exceeds 50,000 Kilometers

China high-speed rail network has surpassed 50,000 kilometers of operational lines following the opening of a new route linking Xi’an and Yan’an in Shaanxi province.

China Railway said the China high-speed rail network has expanded by about 32% since 2020 as part of ongoing infrastructure development.

The new Xi’an–Yan’an line spans 299 kilometers and operates at speeds of up to 350 kilometers per hour, allowing journeys to be completed in about 68 minutes, highlighting the efficiency of the China high-speed rail network.

Domestic and global expansion

China continues to invest in domestic rail development while also financing overseas railway projects under global infrastructure initiatives, reinforcing the role of the China high-speed rail network as a benchmark for modern transport.
